I, I, I: The Goddess I Am Poems, Femfest '09

(by the Anonymous Five)

For backstory on these poems, go here

I am loyal and strong
I wonder about the moon
I hear the silence of the toads
I see the fireflies in your heart
I want accountability
I am loyal and strong
I pretend there’s not a dead zone
I feel clean
I touch the earth
I worry a thousand deaths
I cry when I remember the elders
I am loyal and strong
I understand what’s going on
I believe everyone can make a difference
I dream lucid in the summer
I try to be true to who I am
I hope it continues
I am loyal and strong

I am Changing and Alive
I wonder if Love does Conquer All
I hear phones ringing
I see people who look like people who have died
I want Beach Time
I am Changing and Alive
I pretend I am Humble
I Feel Happy Outdoors
I touch my Children
I Worry about People getting Hurt
I Cry when I’m alone Sometimes
I am Changing and Alive
I understand I am fortunate
I say Blah Blah Blah
I dream
I try to be OK
I hope for peace
I am Changing and Alive

I am up to no good and on a mission
I wonder where my devious schemes will lead me tonight
I hear the laughter of other sprites in the canopy of our living kingdom
I see my faithful firefly and I will ride him into the night
I want to travel to the palace to steal ambrosia and revel in the starry forest
I am up to no good and on a mission
I pretend to be a leaf: camouflaged and quivering with the breeze
I feel as if I am invincible and eternally youthful
I touch the hands of my sisters as we dance
I worry that I will get caught stealing a kiss from the object of my desire
I cry tears like dew drops, but being so fickle, they quickly melt away
I am up to no good and on a mission
I understand that all that matters is tonight
I believe in fairies
I dream in greens and browns
I try to fill the night with excitement
I hope that I will not be caught in my mischief
I am up to no good and on a mission

I am earthbound and growing
I wonder at the foolishness of men
I hear their madness in the wind
I see sky, birds, my sister’s hair
I want clean air, fresh water, untroubled soil
I am earthbound and growing
I pretend that the summer’s forever
I feel that I’ve always been strong
I touch the sky
I worry that everything is shrinking
I cry when my sisters fall down
I am earthbound and growing
I understand that I wont live forever
I say I will always be here
I dream of mosses and lichens and rain
I try to try nothing
I hope for us all
I am earthbound and growing

I am gentle and funny
I wonder about seashells and bird nests
I hear footsteps below me
I see confusion and curiosity
I want peace and order
I am gentle and funny
I pretend to understand
I feel afraid and relieved
I touch skin and earth
I worry and waste
I cry about change
I am gentle and funny
I understand too little too late
I say what I feel
I dream of the ocean
I hope for calm
I am gentle and funny
